Stopping 05 OWB Seat Chime

i don't have an '05 obw to try it on - does anybody know if it works on older models (like my '02 legacy se)?

I just disabled the repetitve chime after work in my '06 WRX wagon. Worked first time. fyi

As promised when I started this thread, I am reporting back.

And I am reporting that it definitely works.

The confusion may be this: when you have completed the sequence of buckling/unbuckling, the chime WILL CONTINUE TO RING ONLY when you get in the car, insert the key, and turn the engine on. You are not TOTALLY disabling the chime. Apparently some folks thought that would be the case.

If, with the engine running, you subsequently unbuckle for whatever reason, the chime will not sound, and that is what seemingly annoyed most folks. If the car was stopped and still running and you wanted to reach across for something on the passenger seat floor, reach into the back seat, whatever, that damn chime would ring, ring, ring. Now it doesn't.

As an aside, I am amazed at the rudeness and vitriol that were directed against some folks who weighed in on this thread.

I finally got it to work on about try number 26. For some reason the engine had to be running to make the fix work. Obviously I remembered to open the garage door or I wouldn't be writing this.

Bob, I sure agree with your aside about unnecessary rudeness.
