What will replace the Boxer engine?

Id be sad if Subaru replaced that sound the flat 4 makes.

Never heard that one. It'd be sad if they went to a generic transverse inline layout for any of their cars.

I agree. The fact that the Subaru is _NOT_ transversely mounted was one of the main reasons that I bought one.

If Subaru goes transverse, I might as well go buy a Saturn.

They are proposed rules, not set in stone. They will most likely be altered to allow a transmission for engines mounted suby style.

That's what I'm refering too, they will have to be testing a new engine by next year if they plan to stay in WRC.

They were specifically drawn up to prevent that so either the rules are going to go through as written or be thrown out completely. The plan is basically to make everyone run basically the same design to make it cheaper for other manufacturers to get into it. Personally I think if Skoda can afford to be there how much cheaper does it have to get? lol

I see that WRC is taking lessons from Formula One; F1 makes sure that all the rule changes help Ferrari; now WRC is going to make rule changes specifically to hurt Subaru.

Well I don't much care about F1 simply because it has become a Ferrari parade lap event, so maybe they should bust them down a notch in the interest of entertainment, but the SCCA and FIA seem to have some sort of obsessive compulsive disorder, every rule needs to be tweaked and changed again and again so that even the stuarts don't know wtf is going on.
