When did the first WRX arrive?

Stupid question but, when did the first WRX arrive. More specifically, what year did it arrive in the North American market?

Thanks in advance.

Glenn

First North American WRX was model year '02, to coincide with the introduction of the new GD body style.

Nothing stupid about your question. I think it was somewhere during dot.com boom after the wide adoption of rally simulation on game consoles. The buying public was prepped with both money and info. Good timing on part of the FHI.

2002 was the first year the WRX was sold in the US.

As others have said, the first was model year 2002. I picked mine up in July, 2001.

sorry for the delay, so thank you.

Thank you to you too. I searched around and never found one before 02 so thanks!

Getting more specific, the GDx series WRX started selling in the NA market in mid-March 2001 as a 2002 model (NA has lagged by a year behind other markets: the GDx series WRX started selling ??/??/???? as a 2001 model in other markets).

Picked up my bugeye in late October 2001, Brent.
