I have a 1989 Cavalier 73K - 4cyl - automatic. Yesterday the trans shifted into 3rd gear and the engine rpms picked up. Pulled over and stopped. Now it will shift into 2nd but will not shift into 3rd. The fluid is up where it should be. I changed the fluid and filter at 40K. I also had to change the torque converter solenoid about a year ago. I never ever horse the car. The fluid seems red and not burnt. Thanks.
