a/c recharge ?

hello i just put a can of freon r134a in my 98 dodge stratus and have a ? about it. when i put the refill gauge on it at first, it said low ( in the green area on gauge) then when i put the can of freon onto it and emptied it, it was in the blue range which means full. now i noticed the more i reved the engine, then the gauge would fall down toward the green area. does this mean i need more freon so that when i rev it good it stays in the full area on the gauge? thanks Randy

The system has to reach an equilibrium before pressure readings mean much. You add some refrigerant, and then wait until the pressures stabilize at idle.

The proper way to do it is to use a refrigerant recovery machine so that you can get the exact charge into the system. If you cannot do this, you must go slowly, watch the pressure as it stabilizes, and charge to the "blue" (or whatever) zone. This is less accurate but is usually successful.

You can also measure the temperature of the air and shoot for the best compromise of pressure and temperature.

Most likely, yes. You need to run the engine at about 2000 rpm when you take the readings. Readings at idle don't mean much.
