What you are proposing is not going to happen so it counts as a vote for the status quo. And the status quo currently is that profits for the big players are privatized and losses are socialized and there is no way it can get any worse than that no matter what they do.

I don't disagree with the libertarian point of view, but in reality it is irrelevant.

This country is never going to allow Witch Doctors to openly practice medicine and allow private citizens to use whatever drugs they want. But beyond the fact that libertarian health care is unrealistic, there is still no argument for free market health care. No evidence that the market incentives will or ever have worked with health care. The perfect health care system is one that puts itself out of business.

That is a fools logic. If the government takes over there are no "politically connected interests left". And why should there be? Currently what the pharmaceutical companies are mostly doing is swooping in and scooping up all the government funded university research that looks to be promising a future profit and if research doesn't look like it will sell they ignore it. Any thoughts of preventing and curing illness play almost no role in this pursuit. There is no body in the privatized system that gives a damn about "health" or "care" and there is no reason to expect there ever will be.

If you were paying attention there is a broad range of possibilities. Sadly the one that will be settled will be the one that benefits the current big players the most. And the logic of taking that choice will be that we can't completely destroy the free market component of the system.

Like we were getting some place?

You must get whiplash a lot. What are we told about Cuba?

The reality is most people supported the bailouts. Sad but true.

Ask the dealers that question. All they had to do was refuse to participate and that would be the end of that.

Can't get any worse? LOL. If that's what you think, then any further discussion is pointless. It can get A LOT worse. Ever hear of that quackery of the american ruling elite known as eugenics? It's never really gone away. Read Obama's science guy's text book or maybe some of the things his medical advisor has written. Things can get a lot worse.

When did he (or I) say that? I just said that it can be run without running a debt on the premiums. Quite the opposite.

So you have no interest in learning about what history says on the subject. Interesting. Seems the propoganda has already finished doing it's job.

You don't read your own links?

"This rooted Douglas' belief that health care should be free to all, as he thought people shouldn't be dependent on generosity in order to get their health in good order."

Instead of being dependent on generosity make them dependent on the coercion of the state.

What history says? Yes, the history of taking from some people to provide for other people through the political means has a long history. It's one of the reasons the roman empire fell apart.

You yourself said you had no interest in reading it, therefore the point wouldn't be found there now would it?

No, the Roman empire was destroyed by christianity mostly. As for people getting gains that shouldn't, Those who have no worries about health care in the US are consistantly those who get such money.
