GM grand Prix struts

Looking at patching up a old 2004 grand Prix for back up car. Needs front struts.Been looking on line and some sites say the part number changed in 2004 (2004-2008). some say the parts numbers are the same further back into the 1999. Says the venture is the same too with no part number change. So, what changed on the struts in 2004 if anything?

2004-2008 use the same strut. There are 2 different part numbers depending on the specific ride option. 1997-2003 use a different strut.

The reason for the difference is a change in the brakes, larger rotors and different caliper design along with different wheel size on the

04-08 GP. The spring seat got moved.

The Venture already used to different parts because it was a heavier vehicle.

saw something else about where the stabilizer bar or sway bar attached to the strut where it did not in earlier models

so is the venture strut the same?

Found the difference. In 04+, Pontiac moved the stabilizer bar mount or such from the lower control arm to the strut. So there is a tab for the mount welded on the strut just below the spring. This tab is not there on the 03 and older units. poked around the junkyard to confirm this.
