Harbor Freight Code Reader

Anyone have any experience with these things? They're about $40 but that's too much if they don't give good/accurate readings. Just wondering if this is a "get what you pay for" deal!

Is it worth it? depends on what you expect from it.

I have one. It's not bad. All it will do it display the codes & then if you leave it plugged in after all the codes are displayed it will erase them. Now I believe you only get to see & clear powertrain code. No body or abs.

At that, you only get the Generic Codes for your car, not the extended codes which are available on more expensive units. I would pass on the Harbor Freight Generic Code reader and go for something a little higher up the scale that can read the extended codes. Still no transmission or ABS, _but_ a lot more than just the Generic Codes.

Anything you can get to help narrow down the problem is going to likely save you money in the long run. That's my experience.

Spend the bucks and get a good reader.
