Help! '99 Explorer Instrument Cluster

1999 Ford Eddie Bauer 4x4 I have 2 problems with the instrument cluster and I am trying to decide whether I can tackle it myself or take it in to the shop. A few weeks ago, the light went out on the fuel gauge. Then a few days ago, the pointer that indicators the gear the transmission is in somehow got off by about one gear. In other words, when it is in Park, the indicator is pointing close to Reverse, Reverse is Neutral, etc. The transmission is in the correct gear and will shift into all gears, the indicator is just wrong. Neither of these are huge deals but they do get aggravating. I am assuming the light bulb blew on the first problem but not sure what happened with the gear indicator. All advice and opinions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris
