oiling EGR solenoid?

what is the hole in the top of an EGR solenoid for? there is a plastic cap on it. possibly for putting a dop of oil in the solenoid? this is a Mitsubishi product.

It's probably a vent cap to keep crap out of the valve. Unless your manual calls for oiling the EGR valve I wouldn't touch it or you might find yourself buying a new one.

Allows air to enter. Some makes have a porous foam filter media. Not designed for oil.
