Why should it be so amazing...? Alleged 4 deaths in millions of cars? Four is too many but we need evidence that there is a real problem that has lead to these situations.

I never owned or drove a Corvair before, but Corvairs were/are safer than Ralph Nader said they were.Also, Ford Pinto cars were no worse than some other cars as far as gas tank safety is concerned. Some Chevrolet pickup trucks of the 1970s and some Jeep Cherokees, for example. How about the old Ford Military MUTT Jeeps built to Military Specs, with four wheels coil spring independent suspension? I did own a Corvair. Nader was not wrong. If you went into a curve even the least bit fast with it, it started to go over. Of course, once you knew this & adjusted your driving habits accordingly, assuming you survived the first experience, it was a relatively nice little car.

Yes, this was the big deal. Personally I like a little bit of oversteer, but if you aren't expecting it, it can be a bad thing. The Corvair was being driven by folks who weren't expecting it.

This wasn't just oversteer. The inside-the-curve side of the car actually rose up as the rear suspension folded under. GM copied the VW Beetle, but didn't understand why VW limited the vertical travel in the independent rear suspension.

Army jeeps of that same generation (M151A1 Jeeps) had the same problem. I remember driving around with several bags of sand in the back of the Jeep to keep it down.
