Looks somewhat like a Corvette.
He did a lot of interesting one-off concept cars back then:

It looks somewhat like the 65+ corvair which was itself influenced by European design ideas. When the Corvair came out many compared it to the Ferrari's of the day.
Looks like an XKE knockoff. Weird.
That front end looks just like the one on my 72 Mazda RX-2.
