2005 Sienna Double Din

Hi all,

I am looking at installing a navigation unit (plus radio and maybe more) in my Sienna. I am looking to do something that is fairly nice. I want it to be built into the dash, not stuck on some arm. I am considering a few units, the names are not important. What is important is that some are double din and some are single din. I have already found a couple of single din dash kits that are OK. My question is "Are there any double din dash kits out there?"

Thanks,

Chris

You mean like the Pioneer In-Dash HDD Navigation and Multimedia A/V receiver model AVICZ1 or the Pioneer In-Dash DVD Multimedia AV Navigation Receiver AVICD2 that Circuit City has on their web site?

google is your friend ;-)

No, I meant the hardware needed to be able to install one of those in a Toyota Sienna. The Sienna does notcom with a standard DIN or Double DIN radio or Dash.

Thanks. This appears to be a Single DIN unit. I really need to find information on a Double DIN unit.

I suspect that nobody makes a double DIN installation kit because there are so few aftermarket applications where a double din audio system is installed in a Sienna.

Of course there are.

Double DIN is not very popular, and is mostly available only on factory equipped systems. when one wants to get away from a factory system, they will obviously need a faceplate to cover the Double DIN hole when a Single DIN unit is installed.

Taking a Double DIN to Single DIN is easy. Taking a Single DIN to Double DIN is where you run into serious problems.

You can not put a Double DIN unit where a Single DIN unit currently resides. You may put a Single DIN where a Double DIN is located, but you can not go the other way.

Surely you can see the problems this will create.

The Sienna has a curved plate where the radio is mounted so a generic single or double DIN unit will not work. A special adapter plate is needed, and it looks like only a single DIN unit is available, with a pocket where the other DIN would be located.
