'97 Corolla Headliner

The headliner of my beloved '97 Corolla began to sag and tear during a recent cold snap. While I had it in for some other routine work, I checked on a replacement. But they quoted me $1,000 for a genuine Toyota headliner. (I don't know if it was a kit or a complete headliner ready to install.) I passed on that without too much thought.

I've Googled and found some kits, but I'm not interested in a do-it-yourself job. Frankly, I'm terrible with such things. I figure my options are 1) to find a complete replacement for less, but I've failed so far; 2) get a kit and have it done; or 3) perhaps take it to an uholstery shop and have it done.

(BTW, lots of the OEM places online look to be the same outfit, but with different Web sites. Causes me to doubt I should be giving them my CC number.)

Any suggestions?

If you are not too concerned about the appearance, you can try using a spray adhesive to hold the headliner in place or go with option 3) above.

I thought about that, but I'd like something that looks better. She's been a fine auto, and I like to treat her well. (I hope I'm not the only one who thinks this way about his car. )

I'll probably run it by an upholstery shop soon and see what they can do for me.

Thanks for the reply, Ray.
