I hope that you understand my joking...
In fact, I sent them $100.
That seemed to me to be a reasonable amount for the work of installing the pads, less the reduction in useful life of the rotors.

$100 seems high, but I'm cheap. If you ever want to tackle brake pad replacement yourself, just ask and I'll provide some instructions. The first time will take a couple of hours, but after you have done it a few times, you can probably replace pads in about 45 minutes.
