How to get a Friends Toyota Supra into 10 sec. ETs?

A friend of a friend purchased a Toyota Supra twin turbo. He wants to make it street / strip to run in the 9 or 10 sec range. Does he need to go into the engine or can it be obtained by better turbo breathing, exhaust, ignition and adding nitrous? How much does he need to put into this car on average to obtain his goal and how dependable will the car be if he races every weekend and uses as a daily driver?

Yes

How much does he need to put into this car on

Not very.

Can't really have it both ways. The people you really want to talk to are at SOGI. Google SOGI and join the group at snipped-for-privacy@supras.com. They trade ideas by e-mail.

Some of them do what you friend wants to do. It's a good bunch!

To get a supra into the 10's you need to spend big $, at least what you paid for the car again.

He is better off getting another car to run at the track as a 9 second street car will only be happy at full throttle and drink fuel faster than you can put it in the car. It will be as usefull as a daily driver as a NASCAR is.

if you want to see what it will take have a look here. this is a 9 second "street" supra.

Sounds like he needs maybe another 20 or $25k in it? If thats so he is better off buying a performance GM 350 v8 crate motor for

9 or $10k and drop it in the Supra and he is ready to go into the 10s.
