Instructions for replacing lamp for a Homelink button?

Hello --

The lamp illuminating button #1 on the Homelink transmitter in my '04 Sienna LE has burned out. Because of the miles my wife puts on the vehicle, it's way out of warranty. It seems kind of silly to incur what likely will be a $50+ charge (mostly labor, I imagine) plus who knows how much time to have the local shop replace what's probably a

10-cent bulb. I've looked at the overhead console unit into which the transmitter is integrated, and aside from the two screws up inside the swivel-down sunglasses storage compartment, I don't see any other screws or latches I could access/trigger to disassemble the console unit and ultimately access and replace the burned-out lamp.

Does anybody know where the magic releases are in this console unit? Any wisdom you care to impart as to how I can replace this bulb myself would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried removing the 2 screws in the sunglass compartment?

Honestly, no. I posted on the assumption that it was very unlikely that such a large console would be secured with just two screws. But, you're right, I'll give it a try and see what happens.

To be honest, I was picuring the console in our Sequoia, which is not that big. Besides the screws above the eyeglass holder, check for screws above any other open-able compartments, including above the dome light lens.

good luck!
