There was an article in today's WSJ on how Japanese are picking up the slack for everyone laid off in Detroit, by hiring in states like Alabama, Mississippi, etc.
However, I think GM will rebound. Since I purchased the new C6 corvette two weeks ago, I am amazed at how well that car is put together. I think GM is beginning to get it - maybe a little late, but they are impressing me.
When their alternators start lasting 100k miles then you know they are serious about quality.
With GM I think there is the Corvette and everything else.
Dealer already replaced the alternator in my 2005 Sienna with 7k miles on it :)
Had DENSO all over it too...
:)
I would hope they can build a decent car for $50K+. They dump a hell of a lot of effort into the 'Vette. When they start consistently building something decent in the $20-25K range, then we'll talk GM "quality".
