While I don't dispute that Ford really molded this problem perfectly for their needs, I disagree that Firestone had "nothing to do with it." I'm no tire expert, but I know a good enough amount to determine by a visual inspection of those Firestone tires that they were of an inferior quality. (AAMOF, I've NEVER seen a Firestone tire that looks like quality rubber.) Part of the lawsuit should have been how CHEAP Ford was in their selection of OEM tires for that particular vehicle. I wonder how serious the problem would have been were they Michelins?
