Michelin tires for a 2004 Highlander

I have had recommendations for the LTX M/S and the Cross Terrain. Does anyone have any experience with them, or know the difference?

I have an 02 Highlander awd v-6.

It came with the duelers on it. The first trip on the highway in snow/slush convinced me that all wasn't well, no matter the advertising. So at about 18-19k miles I went to Costco and put on the cross-terrains. I am about 40k miles on them now (3 years or so) and they probably would do as well as the duelers did new. So, even though they are $$$$, I recommend the cross-terrains.

I am a BIG fan of LTX-MS that I have had on Ford Explorers for years. FANTASTIC TIRES, but I am not sure they come in HIGHLANDER sizes. When I went to get tires for my Honda CR-V, they said that the LTX-MS were TRUCK tires and the CR-V (like Highlander) is a car-based vehicle. So I got MICHELIN HYDROEDGE tires. Recommended by some folks here on the internet who had them on a SUBARU FORESTER, which is similar to CR-V. Only had 'em for about 2 months in the summer, but they were recommended for Northeast winters (I live in Pittsburgh). So far they are great. The LTX-MS might be too "truck-ie" for a Highlander even if they DO make the size. Anyway, the Michelin HYDROEDGE is another alternative to consider.

I have the LTX M-S tires(10.5x31 - they are 6 ply tires) on my 89 Toyota pickup 4x4 v6 shortbox, factory was Dunlop. I bought the Michelin because they came highly recommended. I have over 140,000 KM(91K miles) on them and they still have more than half left on them. The problem is they are very hard rubber, and therefore very slippery in winter and on water. I think the whole problem is because the Toyota does not have the weight of regular half ton. The are OK in the snow, but not great. In winter I have to keep it in 4x4 all winter, too slippery.
