I wonder what is going to happen to all those DVD players out there. Will they end up in land fills? Will people recycle them? Also, what a huge win for the entertainment industry and how convenient...DVD player makers know that everyone is going to have to buy blue ray disc compatiable dvd players... Also, I heard Netflix and Blockbuster plan to phase in Blue Ray disc all together.

Won't bother me because I have no intention of buying high def DVD's.
A no-brainer. Blu-Ray is higher capacity, with Apple leaning toward support. While I didn't buy anything until this war was over, I was more than fairly sure as to the outcome.
MicroSloth, otoh, was in the HD-DVD camp.
I finally just bought a regular DVD player.
How long ago? You might consider taking that puppy back if you still can.. and getting a blue ray disc compatible one.

I have an "up-converting" regular DVD player, but I got it for peanuts, since my son is on the Best Buy Geek Squad.
