I agree with elmo and Daniel. The numbers Daniel gives are much closer to reality.
It is a system. Toyota thought long and hard about it.

OH no. You have these "specs" you refer to; supply them, because it should be that easy. If you have access to them, anyone can have access to them.
Yes, really.
That post sounded like sour grapes from some oil company employee who feels threatened.
What about city driving though, where the hybrid is supposed to do BETTER?
My 93 Corolla wagon gets 25 MPG city and 30 MPG hwy.
But for my work, ALL of my miles are driven in the city, and mostly in the back streets, going to peoples' homes.
I sometimes do 25-30 stops a DAY, with idle time at each stop!
So my wagon winds up getting 22 MPG that way, with all the stop & go and idle time.
I'd LOVE to have a Prius for that, if and when I can afford one.
NEVER sell your wagon!
I've noticed about 5 of them around here. They are all in great shape!
My '92 still has the original paint and looks better than many newer cars...
From what I've read, that you guys have posted here, it sounds like they have absolute geniuses working on it, and keep improving it all the time too.
Yes, and I'm often one too.
If I had investment money I could probably get quite rich.
If I was rich, I'd make a new car out of it and keep it that way, but there are practical financial realities unfortunately.
This one is so-so. It could be fixed up, all it takes is $$$.
Nice.
Spoken by someone who doesn't live in a climate where there's snow - with its attendant road salt. Up here, if you keep a car longer than say... 6 -
7 years, it's always eventually a matter of keeping the body free from rust - IOW periodic body work, while the rest of the car's still great.Cathy
If you live near salt water, within a couple miles the spray is enough to rust out cars from the top down if they are left outside.
If you like the wagon, why not spend the money making it like new.
How much could that cost vs buying a new or newer car?
I LIKE my little wagon. It is a perfect car for me.
If I lived up there, I would wash the salt off and still have a 'like new' car.
You forget that I live on the coast of Florida. Talk about salt.....
You've mentioned that you live on the coast of FL. Where? I'm a bit north of Daytona. Yes the car is rinsed off daily due to salt spray in the air.
Just south of Sarasota
But here in the Denver area we have salt and the cars can last a LONG time. Must have more to do with the humidity.
There's only one thing I don't like about it. It doesn't get 50 MPG.
One more time smart-ass. Go to the EPA's web site and look up the mileage figures for whatever car you're interested in. If you want, go check the sticker on the window at the car dealer. If you can't figure out how to find the EPA's web site, Google it.
I'm not going to argue with you, I've already said that you win. Enjoy your ignorance, you probably think that ethanol is the answer to the oil shortage and hydrogen is the ultimate in renewable fuel.
If it was that easy, we'd all do it...
Cathy
Like the Prius?
You know, since you've been there and have the link at your fingertips, common courtesy would have you simply provide the link. Now I have to go find it.
OK, here:
http://www.fuelec> Elmo, read the specs. The car won't get 50 mpg on the highway unless
Show us on the EPA's web site where it says that.
I never said anything like that, probably because I don't believe it. But you would come to any conclusion, say anything, to try to discredit me and the facts I disclose--because you don't like the facts I'm exposing, facts that don't fit in with how you want the world to be.
When you actually look into Prius and how its hybrid system is engineered and works, come back to us and let us know. Until then, just stay the f*ck away and shut the f*ck up, you ignorant old man.
I agree with you.
My Air Force Son has a new Corolla and he gets 40mpg.
I just wish they would make a Corolla wagon (not the Matrix).
