Mr. Pendry IS QUITE THE MORON, and should brush up on his history regarding the Shah of Iran. You should, too, but you can't.

What is the history regarding the Shah of Iran? I was there during that time so I am interested in your version. Yes, there was no bus but that is a figure of speech.

There was a choice: Help him leave, or watch him die. Only impotent old men like Scott think we should've invaded (or some other military solution) to prop up the Shah. Impotent old men like Scott would've been the last to volunteer for the macho mission.

I see you have been nailed again, Joey.....

The Shah of Iran had the sixth most powerful military in the world at that time. He had the means to quell any uprising, especially early on. He just didn't have the will to kill his own people in that fashion so he left the country and had his Prime Minister take care of business. Unfortunately the Prime Minister didn't have the will either so he allowed Ayatollah Khomeini to return from exile and really stir up the fervor with the students.

The Shah of Iran was a weak man emotionally and always allowed others to control him. It's no secret he was a puppet of America, but he had been controlling an important region very effectively and it was a huge mistake to abandon him at a time when he was at his lowest. We are still paying for it today in the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, higher oil prices, less stability, and a paper tiger image of America -- all thanks to President Jimmy Carter who didn't have the decency to protect an American ally nor the guts to stand up to a two-bit terroristic country who took American prisoners hostage for 444 days. What a shameful period of our country that was.
