If newspapers would return to their roots of investigative journalism rather than fluff or opinionated "news" articles they wouldn't be in such dire straits. It's much more pleasant to sit down and read a newspaper's in-depth coverage of an issue instead of getting the drive-by headlines and soundbites available today. Even worse are the skewed articles that tell you what to think by setting you up with provacative statements blaming one person or another for the issue being reported. So far I've seen several newsmedia outlets having financial problems that tend to lean left. I don't know whether the ones that are conservative-leaning going under also.
