A long, long time, because conventional state-to-state war in the Middle East was made impossible with the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt and the end of the Cold War (USSR no longer had as much incentive to have anti-Israel/anti-US allies). Other factors have since decreased the odds of war even further, namely Islamic extremism, which frightens every Arab nation, including the Islamic extremist government of Saudi Arabia, and makes them want regional stability more than ever, even if that requires coexisting with Israel. And those nations secretly want to be allied with Israel because without it they know they can't defend against non-Arab Iran, the second greatest power in the region.

The biggest threat to Israel is the slow demographic shift in favor of Arabs and the rise in fundamentalist power, not only among the Palestinians but also the Israelis.

The only war authorized by the UN in 2003 was in Iraq. The government of Afghanistan asked for UN help in 2002 as well but Pakistan, where OBL, Al Qaeda and the Taliban are hiding will not do so.

Sending more troops to Afghanistan will do little in the long run, unless Pakistan, where OBL, Al Qaeda and the Taliban are hiding allows the UN forces to attack OBL, Al Qaeda and the Taliban. But you know that, but you prefer to believe otherwise.

I don't give a damn what the U.N. thinks.

Well, I guess that explains why you do know what you are talking about when it comes to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan
