Because wise politicians in the 1930s realized that Conscious would abuse it a half-century later.


I don't buy the High Times theory that DuPont lobbied to get marijuana outlawed so DuParooah (DuPont Pulls A Rabbit Out Of A Hat, now incorrectly called "nylon") and other DuPont synthetics could replace hemp. I think it had more to do with frustrated prohibitionists needing a new bogyman to crusade against after they lost the crusade against alcohol.
