You might find this interesting. Haven't gotten through it all yet.

"BBC documentary film series, written and produced by Adam Curtis. The series is subtitled The Rise of the Politics of Fear. The film consists of three 1-hour parts, which were first broadcast in the UK in late 2004. It compares the rise of the American Neo-Conservative movement and the radical Islamist movement, makes comparisons on their origins and suggests a strong connection between the two."

Sorry, dbu. It's more than a minute long. Don't bother.

Produced by one of the most Liberal news "sources" in the world.

I have become thoroughly disgusted with the BBC; they have passed up on reporting and are now into indoctrinating. Like Limbaugh has been accused of, they are telling people how to think.

I believe it's just what you need, JSB...

Would you prefer China's People's Daily or Fox News Channel?

Of that there is no question. They even admitted this recently, and unabashedly.

Again, they admit as such. However, I have always been someone who needs to investigate or learn about other, even opposing, viewpoints. I've always believed that to truly know why you do believe what you do, you must also understand why you don't believe what you don't. One cannot do this if one goes through life with their "ears" plugged, screaming "La-la-la-la, I can't hear you.", unless it's presented by some vile, nasty little man spewing his evil personality publicly. One cannot take someone like that seriously.

Fortunately, this group has only two or three that fall into that category on each side. IMO, they all do their viewpoint harm by their conduct.

Will this documentary change my mind about much? Probably to some degree, but it won't make me become a liberal. So don't worry about me, Hachi.

HEY! I've been accused of that!!!

But the fact is, I have finally become somewhat disgusted with Limbaugh for doing this, even though I do agree with a lot that he says (Actually, it's more like *he* says publicly what *I* think!). But I don't need someone telling me how to think.

I used to *really* like the BBC, but their 'agenda' has become so rigid it is no longer that informative listening to them anymore. They are even

*WORSE* than Limbaugh at telling people what to think! It's discouraging; I have been listening to the BBC for almost 30 years, and it's a sad state to see them go from reporting the news to preaching a doctrine.

But, I still listen every night. I cull out the spin and cling to the stories.

Well, if anything, my nightly listening to the BBC is pushing me further to the right!

d) None of the above...

How about the Asahi Evening News? I've always looked to the Japanese view of the world.

One program I miss is "As It Happens", a Liberal news program produced by the CBC. It used to be on about 7PM from a station from Albany. Interesting to see what Canadians view of the world, esp the US.

Then, they started marketing the "US Version', where the more caustic comments were edited out. Not as informative. I was able to pick up the Canadian version for a while, but after the FCC started selling licenses on the open market, the station I was listening to it on got overshadowed by a (GASP!) Country Music station, one that was already available in my market anyway. Thanks, FCC!
