I was told that if we had a bunch of BEVs with vehicle-to-grid technology that it could actually ease or steady the load on the power plants as the car could communicate and be bi-directional, IE if you and several others were parked charging at work and a large motor needed to be started (like a
500 ton chiller compressor) the charging could be paused and they could even draw some power back from the cars to help start that load without a huge current spike from the grid.
