What is so different between a '94 and '95 Tercel, that Chilton and Haynes don=?ISO-8859-1?B?uQ==?=t make a manual ??

The chilton and Haynes manuals for Tercel, only cover up to '94 - supposedly not covering my '95 Tercel (told that only the dealership can special order a manual for this car). Wondering what is so different that the '94 manuals would not cover - especially since I can't see much beyond minor body difference between them (when parked next to each other).

Automakers produce factory service manuals for each model and model year, while Chilton, Haynes, Motor, etc. manuals are much more generic. Factory service manuals are written for dealer technicians and go into much more detail than the generic ones. The aftermarket service publications have to purchase the information from the factory and I suspect the reason they don't cover every model year is simple economics - they don't want to invest thousands of dollars in factory service manuals for every make and car made every year, especially if the differences are minor or cosmetic.

To answer your question, if the body style, engine, and transmission for a '94 and '95 Tercel are the same, then the Chilton or Haynes manual should cover the majority of repairs for your car.

You know, I don't know the difference, but I know there IS a difference! And, there is a difference between the '95 and the 96-98! I had a '95 and from buying parts and asking questions there was a difference. I think the engine was different, but I'm not sure. The '95 was kind of an 'orphan', all by itself.

Sorry, that's all I know. Perhaps one of the techs that frequent the group can enlighten us more!
