I recently noticed that on my wife's 02 Camry the AC low pressure line has no foam pipe insulation, in the section by the firewall, about 10 inches long. That bare section directly exposes to engine bay heat. But the rest of the pipeline has been wrapped with insulation. The bare section transmits heat to evaporator inside the cabin easier. This for sure reduces the AC efficiency. But the one on my 86 Celica is wrapped all the way. Is this a cost cutting or there is a reason? I know this may be a small reduction of the efficiency but I am curious. TIA.
