2000 Camry Transmission Service

I have a 2000 Camry 4cyl, with 92K miles. When does the transmission need to be serviced and exactly what should the service include? Do I just have it flushed or do I need the filter and all? Do I need to have a dealer do this work. To me the transmission hesitates every so often especially going into overdrive. Any ideas?

Thanks.

First, check the fluid level while its hot and on level ground. If the tranny fuild is low it will sometimes slip.

Changing the fluid in older, high mileage vehicles is not a "cure-all" procedure and more then often causes more problems down the road. If your not mechanical or are unsure what to do, take it to a tranny shop.

Dont flush it with those Power Flushes you may circulate contaminates. You should have been on your second pan drop and filter replacement by now. No wonder it is sluggish.

You should replace the strainer and clean the pan every 15-20K miles. In between just drain and refill the tranny/differential fluid if you think the ATF got too dark to your liking. Clean off the metal sludge at the bottom and replace with a new strainer. Don't clean the old strainer, it's like trying to clean a window screen with a garden hose from a corner.

Fram has a kit for about $12 online with a cork/rubber gasket.

See if this helps first before do> I have a 2000 Camry 4cyl, with 92K miles. When does the transmission need to
