87-Camry-Window rolls very hard

All of a sudden the driver side window on my

1987 Camry has become extremely hard to roll-up or down. It is manual (i.e. no power windows).

How do I fix it ? Any thing I can spray on the window to help this ?

I washed the car two days back and since then the problem started, though this may not have anything to do with it.

Many thanks for your help.

Try silicone spray or tri-flow in the window track on the sides, - should help.

the glass, but does help. Most auto part stores sell a "dielectric grease" in a small tube for a couple of dollars - which is actually silicone paste, and can be used to lubricate the window tracks.

Many Thanks ...

I got silicone spray for $3.50 from Kragen Auto Parts and applied it to the window guides (the side tracks). Let it penetrate down for a couple of minutes. That has fixed it, the window rolls up and down nicely.

This may be a temporary fix .. as the Kragen guy pointed out .. the assembly (regulator ?) may be worn and may need replacement (about $250 cost).

I'll save the money for now, the car's too old to keep pumping money in .. Thanks again for your assistance.

Search the interent. You can buy a used regulater from a wreck at a reasonable price and find someone to put it in.
