92 camry hi idle??

Question

My 92 4cyl is idling at 1250rpms in park with the engine hot and 900rpms in gear with engine hot. Isnt this high?? Its even higher when the engine is cold but drops when temp is reached? Any suggestions?? Thanks!! Nel

A little different than what you've seen but...My daughter's '92 does the same thing.  She claims it only happens in hotweather and seems to be intermittent after she's been driving a while.It happened the other night when she pulled up to the house.  While the carwas in PARK I had her hit the accelerator quickly. That didn't seem to help.Told her to do it again and this time the RPMs lowered a bit.  Had her putit into gear and then back into PARK and that knocked it down again a coupleof hundred RPMs but still too high, about 1200.  I had her pop the hood andthen manally turned the wheel on which the accelerator cable attaches too,(throttle linkage?) .  I noticed that as I started to move it it seemed to"unstick" itself.  The RPMs went down to a normal 750.  My guess is thatthis linkage is binding up.  Not sure if because of the weather and her useof the AC, that the computer revs the engine higher and somehow the linkagebinds up????I'm going to get some lubricant onto that linkage...
