Cold water is dripping under the dash board above the accelerator. I also notice a hissing noise when I make a turn or accelerate from a stop. It all seems related to the air conditioner. Can this be fixed by a home mechanic or should I take it to a dealer?

Look under the car for the drain for the air conditioner. It is just a rubber hose. It may have come loose from the bottom of the AC in the passenger compartment or it is plugged up. Look behind the carpet on the firewall to see if it is still connected, if so go under the car and carefully use a coathanger wire to unplug the drain hose.
You also could try blowing compressed air into the black air conditioner hose. Watch out itll drown you with water.
