99 CE clutch problem

My 5 speed 4 cyl 1999 Camry has been a dream car for 5 years and is now at

99,000 miles. Yesterday I heard a pop as I pushed the clutch and suddenly the clutch feels loose and there is bad slippage when in any gear above first. The car is now parked. Is 100,000 typical for the clutch disc to wear out? Do Toyota disks go all at once like that? Just got back from 2,000 mile trip (35 mpg!) with no slippage and then it all happens instantly.

I think it has a hydraulic clutch. Any suggestions?

It depends on the duty of the car ie how nuch use the clutch has had. Mine is also manual ('96), and is on its original clutch, but it spent much of its life on country hi-ways.

Sounds like the pressure plate has gone pear-shaped (collapsed)

Get the whole clutch replaced: throw-out bearing/ p-plate/friction-plate/crankshaft spiggot bearing (used to support the clutch shaft at the engine end)
