The antenna doesn't retract anymore. For years it wouldn't retract all the way, about 3 inches would be left. Now it just stays up and you don't hear the motor for it doing anything.
What should I check first?

I have had this problem, the plastic sprockets inside the drive housing is broken. go to the ebay and buy complete antenna assy for $20. search (toyota camry power antenna)you get some selection and choose any. put it in, and you will rock and roll.
