I had new brakes put in my 92 Camry about 1 year ago. They said the squealing sound would stop within 6 months or so. Its now 10 months and I still hear it periodically. I'm going to bring it back but I'd appreciate any suggestions as to why the sound has not stopped. Thanks

They were expecting the pads and rotors to wear into each other. But squealing is generally caused by the vibration between the pad and the caliper; using brake pad grease will usuaully stop this.
If you're anywhere near 30,000 miles from the last change (if you are, I'd HATE to pay your gas bills!) then it's about time to at least look at the pads. If not, then grease needs to be applied to stop the squealing; this means removing everything and pretty much doing it all over again. The chances of them doing this gratis are slim; there may be a 'nominal fee'.

In addition, can I add: ask the guy who did the job, whether the 'anti-squeal shims' where replaced. They cost about $1 each,..2 for each wheel.
