Hi,
I am going out of USA for 6 months and leaving my Camry LE 150,000 mile (1996) in a parking lot. Should I take the battery out or leave it in there. What should I do about the battery.

Taking the battery out shouldn't hurt... 1) makes the car harder to steal; 2) all those little parasitic loads (clock, etc.) won't be draining the battery.
Got a friend who can charge up your batt every month or so? That would be best.

" For $499 plus $30 a month, plus the cost of an iPhone and monthly fee, you can buy DEI's SmartStart system. Alas, it doesn't look like it will shut the car off, only start it, so maybe it's not such a great idea unless you have someone come over to add fuel to the car once a week or so.
Seriously, if the car is in an outdoor lot you might just get one of those solar trickle chargers. It'll provide enough power to offset parasitic losses and self-discharge. You can't just plug it into the cigarette lighter outlet because the Camry outlet is only live when the car is on, you'll need to run a wire directly to the battery (include a low amperage fuse near the battery terminal).
