Camry CE 2000 stall

Nov 06, 2005 2 Replies

Hi:

Just bought a Camry 2000 CE, and it runs great.

When I go down a long hill, to save gas, I put the car in neutral and let it coast. every once in a while, my engine stalls. This is the only time it ever stalls.

Any suggestions?

FRED

The only suggestion I have is to leave the car in gear, instead of putting it in neutral. If it's in gear, your gas consumption will be 0. If you put it in neutral, it will consume gas (to keep the engine running in idle).

If you stop the car and you leave it running for 10 minutes (in neutral), does it stall as well?

Hi Luc K:

Thanks for the information. I was wondering if the car used more gas in neutral or in gear while coasting.

I don't know if it will stall after 10 minutes idling. I should try it.

Thanks again,

FRED
