Carpet relacement or Odor removal

My 2000 Camry creampuff which still had that new car smell now stinks. My sister left a quart of milk under the front passenger seat. It leaked and soaked the carpet completely.(3 days before I noticed it.) I soaked it up with paper towels, sprinkled baking powder into it, let it dry, vaccumed it up. That helped. Then I soaked it with Odor Eaters Carpet cleaner, let it dry. Made it worse. Your welcome, Odor Eaters' company. OK, replace carpet time. I don't mind too much the prices I've seen on the internet (130-170 bucks.) But the dealers' $650 is rediculous. However I'm afraid the aftermarket stuff may be inferior. I know I need the Mass backing type. I'm doing it myself. I notice instructions come with the carpet so I guess it's pretty doable. Anybody know a way to kill this odor? Advice on replacing carpet? Front seats come out. Does back seat, anything else? Special tools? Haynes manual does'nt cover carpet replacement.

ARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! I HATE MILK!!!! We had an Avalon come in smelling like PUKE!!! Could NOT figurte out where the smell was coming from, then we found an old milk carton under a seat.

At any rate, what you're going to want to do is try a dealer or detailer with an Extractor. This is a machine like a super vacuum cleaner that shoots a solution and then sucks it up.

Here's what we did with the Avalon; We went over it with the extractor, then sprinkled Baking Soda on the carpet in the area where the milk had been. Then, we used this other Marvel we had called an Ionizer, and left it on for three days. We vacuumed up the Baking soda, extracted it AGAIN, and set off a 'bomb', a deodorizer in a can that shoots for about 10 minutes. Run the heater, on recirc, with the AC on and the temp control

1/2 way. Then, we ran the ionizer again for another 2 days. When we finally finished you couldn't smell the 'puke', but it didn't smell new, either...

Good luck, and try to find someone that has both an ionizer and an extractor...
