Code issue

Recently while bridging the two terminals in the diagnosis box to get the codes, I got a spark. Then the car wont start, it will crank if I jump-start it, but apparently there was no fuel. it's a 90 Camry DX V6. The headlights were low. If i turned the parking lights on, and then the headlights, the stereo would die. I did all this right after the installation of my new stereo. I was trying to get the codes for the second time, and I was using to short wires that i attached together to make bridge so the two terminals would make contact and the check engine light would come on to tell me the codes. I still don't know what caused this, but I solved it. The EFI Fuse gave away when the I got the spark, and somewhere in between, the battery died. Just thought of letting you guys know if any of you had the same thing happen to you.

REAL simple. Jumpering the two ECU self diagnosis terminals CANNOT result in a visible spark. The voltage is far too low and there is even less amperage. You can get a sizeable visible spark jumpering the the fuel pump because you're dealing with 12 volts and about 5 amps to run the fuel pump. Frankly, from the story you've told ... you need to close the hood and either get a factory book and study before attempting more damage or take the car to a qualified service center.
