HCH I or II ? manual or automatic?

What is your "real world" like? Highways, suburbia, citys? cold Maine winters or rainy Oregon or hot/dry Arizona? Kansas flat or Rocky Mountain climbs? Short trips or long highway commutes?

Compare your current fuel economy in your car with your usual driving to that of the EPA rating for your particular current car, and get a percent difference of your driving to that of the EPA rating. Now apply that same percentage difference to the EPA rating of the HCH, and you'll have a good idea of what you would get if you were driving a HCH like you do your current car.

Interesting that the Prius gets all the hype but the Civic is just about as good mpg.

2007 Camry: I was getting 38-39 mpg last summer when purchased. Mileage dropped with the temps to as low as around 25 mpg in the dead of winter which was pretty cold up here in Maine (-10 F). Mileage has steadily improved as temps have come back up. I am not back to 34 mph.

My 1991 "old box style" is getting that kind of mileage!
