More ?'s

Ok. Now I"m going to go get the oil changed in the car and they will check the power steering fluid, etc. I need to do the following:

  • Timing Belt * Tune Up
  • strut assemblies (my car kinda rattles sometimes. and the tire place said strut assemblies). I have already replaced the front struts about a month ago with Monroe Struts

Anyone know what a fair quote on a timing belt and tune up would run??

Thanks, Josh

The timing belt replacement is not easy on the Camry 2.2. You need to remove the crankshaft pulley and stuff like that,.....time is about 2-3 hours in the w/shops plus parts which means roughly $120- 180 or more labour, plus $70 worth of belts and any seals they may do,....so budget for $300 smackers.

Jason,

Thank you. If the timing belt breaks will it mess up the engine?

I will mess up your day and maybe more if it breaks in the wrong or a bad area. You could even cause a major traffic problem if you are on the hwy. or in an intersection. Or had a few drinks and a cop found you.

No it wont damage the engine. The term ''interference'' refers to engines that have definate contact between valve-open to piston-top if the cam stops and the engine keeps running onpower-down as the cars stops. The Camry is not one of them.
