Wal Mart Syn oil

Well I still have no clear answer. If the cheapie syn meets the appropriate standards then its OK ? or because its not above the auto standards its not very good ?. Auto RX maybe good for seals in your engine but the question is about syn oil. I don't have an opinion on this so that's way Iam asking others. I have done a fair amount of reading on syn oils but I don't want to confuse syn oils or not verse is the Wal mart syn oil OK to use ?. Thanks again

Yes it is OK to use Wal-Mart synthetic. It is better than conventional oil, but not as good as Mobil 1.

However, starting to use synthetic oil (any synthetic) for the first time on a high mileage car should be done only with care and careful monitoring. Personally I would use a high viscosity (10W-30 or 10W-40) synthetic blend instead of full synthetic on an older car.

I have used Mobil 1 5W-30 on my 98 Camry from 5000 miles and it is well worth the extra expense in my opinion (not much extra expense since I switched to 5000 mile oil change intervals, from 3000 with previous cars using conventional oils).
