07 Tacoma engine ticking

Anyone ever heard anything about the timing chain causing a ticking sound? I have a brand new dbl cab 4x SR5 and the noise drives me crazy. I brought it back to the dealer and they said it was the timing chain and something to do with when it's cold (I live in the northwest), and they said it's normal. To me it sounds like a loud injector, or a lifter, or an exhaust leak.

My son has an '06 Tacoma with the 4.0 I know the noise you are talking about . Sounds like lifter or injector or something. Had it to the dealer a few times. They say normal and not to worry. The truck ha s 20,000 now and sounds the same. Does'nt seem to be anything to worry about. Scott

Are you sure it is not piston slap? This is a common characteristic of Toyota Truck engines. I test drove three different Tundras, and they all did it until they warmed up. The Salesman said it was perfectly normal. It could also be valve lifter noise. Usually the piston slpa goes away as the engine warms up, while lifter ticking might or might not get worse.

On the 4L engine its the thin walled exhaust headers.
