22r valve adjustment stone cold

Oct 08, 2005 2 Replies

Hello I'm wondering what setting to adjust valves on a stone cold 22r-te motor. I've had them adjusted at the shop and they are pretty quiet. They were also very quiet after the shop rebuild. Seems like whenever I follow procedure in the service manual they sound very loud and clacky. Does anyone have a recomended setting or procedure for a freshly rebuilt 22r-te motor stone cold. Any other hints as to adjust them and torque on the stays and the cover bolts would be greatly be appreciated. Thanks ~ Bill

Use metric delineated feeler gauges and use the service book's metric valve lash dimensions. People often screw up in the conversion.

Adjust 1 thousandth under and adjust with the lobe all the way down.
