Skipper,

I assume that you're referring to the window in the tailgate style 4Runner.

On my 1990 4Runner, I used a few drops of liquid dish soap to make the gasket slip between the new brackets and the glass. I GENTLY tapped them in with a rubber mallet and wooden block against the metal brackets only. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DOING THIS. All of this was done with the glass removed and placed on a mover's type blanket, so there wouldn't be a chance of damaging the glass. As I recall, it took quite a bit of trial and error before I got them in the correct locations. Also, make sure to clean the glass first in case there is any residue from the rusted out brackets. If you put too much soap on them they'll become too slippery. DAMHIKT. ;^)

A couple of other thoughts are that this was done in Spring / Summer type weather so, if it's currently cold where you are, I think that I'd bring it inside and work on it at room temperature. Don't forget to clean out and grease up the tracks, rollers, and the regulator arms.

Hope this helps. Good luck and post back on how you make out with this project.

Peter.
