87' 4runner electrical problem

May 13, 2004 0 Replies

The truck seems to be running of the battery all of a sudden I replaced a frayed connection on the alternator(I crimped it, was supposed to soder, I can't see it making much of a difference, It worked long enough for me to mave myself and 2 other people, then procedded to die in my new driveway. I pulled off and looked at the alternator, bearing was on its way out, brushes were pretty beat up, same with rotor. $215.00 dollars and an hour later I replaced the alternator, belts, coolant hose then it died after running for about

10 min. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can anyone give me any advice????????????? I'd appreciate it gladly.

P.S. The truck had 240,000 Km when I bought it now has over 320,000Km, I've had it coast to coast, up in the mountains on the praries, one unfourtunate incident in a river in Alberta, and one in frozen over washout in Nothern Ontario(goddamn beavers), but the only place it ever brakes down is in my driveway!
