My 94 4Runner 3.0 5 speed (150k) is getting a little picky about how well I shift it into first. Lets me know Ive done a bad job by hopping out of gear. Nerve wracking. Where do I look first?

Probably that little plastic piece at the end of the gear shift lever at the top of the transmission. They get broken or worn out. Pull the shift lever out and see what kind of shape it's in.
Shifter bushing. I think Roger has a link on how to replace it.
