Castrol synthetic oil 5w30 on 2007 4Runner

This was before Shell took over Quaker/Penzoil - and just because they share ownership does not NECESSARILY mean the products are the same.

VW owns Rolls IIRC.

If you want to be cautious about it. Have the oil analyzed at 5000 miles. If the results are good then bump the oil change interval up to

5000 miles for your regular oil changes. I had my own oil checked this way in both winter and once in summer since I wanted to see the results from driving during seasonal changes and to see how driving during the dustier spring and summer conditions might affect the oil. Both times the company that analyzed it reccommended extending the oil changes. I did the same thing at 7500 miles and then finally at 10,000 miles. It took a couple of years to finally reach 10,000 mile intervals but it works fine for me. My '97 4-Runner now has 297,000 miles on it and it still runs great. I do use it primarily for commuting so I know my oil is reaching proper operating temperature. Lots of highway milage for me. I've been using Mobil 1 after breaking in the engine. It looks darker in color at oil change but still clear. Where as with regular oil changs I can see dark swirls in the oil at 3000 miles.
